AN UNDERSTANDING APPROACH

The City Council consists of eight aldermen and the mayor. As the aldermen are elected by wards, they are expected to represent the views of their constituents. However, it takes a majority to make something happen. Therefore, it is imperative for an alderman to understand the views and interests of the other members. Such understanding makes it possible to reconcile differences among the members. My record in civic life demonstrates that I make every reasonable effort to do this without compromising on basic interests and principles. My knowledge of municipal law and civic experience will enable me to advocate solutions that serve the city and the community.
