Rules and City Government Committee: 
Generally called the Rules Committee, this is a standing committee of the City Council. This committee handles matters relating to general administration, personnel, elections, subdivisions and planning and zoning. The members of the committee are Richard Israel (Chair), Michael Christman and Classie Hoyle.  The committee meets in the Council Room at a date and time which is mutually convenient. 

Economic Matters Committee:
The Economic Matters Committee is also a standing committee of the City Council. Jurisdiction includes matters relating to the city’s economy, the market house, the city dock, historic preservation, cable television, and alcoholic beverages. The members of the committee are Wayne Taylor (Chair), Joshua Cohen and Richard Israel. The committee meets in the Council Room on a date and time that is mutually convenient.

Code Revision Task Force: The City Charter requires the City Council to provide for the codification and recodification  of the city’s ordinances at least every ten years. (Article IX, Sec. 6.) Any substantive changes are subject to Council approval.  A review of the charter and code by the Institute of Governmental Services concluded that the charter and code are not in need of comprehensive  recodification.  However, a Task Force, chaired by Richard Israel, will review the Code for obsolete, redundant and invalid provisions.
